Aygo catching up: doorsills and exhaust

Before I got the MR2 I snazzed up my little Aygo with some nice doorsills and a flashy exhaust tip (+5hp yo!). I actually had these parts laying around for quite a while before installing them.

Aygo doorsill step 1: measuring

Installing the doorsills is as easy as it gets, they just stick on. First I cleaned the bare doorsills. To keep both sides symettrical I measured the distance and marked the start with some electrical tape.

Aygo doorsill step 2: stick it on

After that it was just a question of sticking the sills on, starting at the tape and keeping it straight. Looks much better!

Another easy optical upgrade is the chromed exhaust tip. It just bolts on, but you’ll want to keep it level, for looks.

A side effect of the exhaust tip is a weird little rumble in exhaust noise, I like it but some people may be put off by this.

New old car, late post

I’ve got myself another car, and it’s once again a Toyota. And again red. But technically speaking couldn’t be more different than my trusty Aygo.

  • It has one more cylinder
  • Displacement is 1.6 times as much
  • Has no backseat
  • Rear wheel drive
  • Mid mounted engine, that’s an engine behind the seats but in front of the rear axle.
  • It’s about 23 years older

Stuff that happened while I was not here

I should be getting around to updating this site more soon, but in the meantime here are a few things that happened this year:

My company Active-Bits is now truly MY company, it’s quite a bit easier  having sole ownership.

Some of my photo’s are getting printed in Gardens West magazine in Vancouver (Canada eh), see the photo’s here.

Got a Windows pc for the first time in nearly a decade, not surprisingly it crashes way too much.

Last but not least; Joel Watson ( @hijinksensue ) not only drew a picture featuring Wil Wheaton ( @wilw ) for me, but also put it up on his site, LOOK AT IT!

Fiber optic intarwebs

Normally I’m not the least bit excited about perfectly good streets getting ripped open, quite the opposite in fact, but this time it means we will be getting fiber optic internet. Yay!

We currently have cable (for digital TV, home phone and internet) and besides the phone service it sucks teh monkeys balls. Digital TV has crap reception here, internet isn’t nearly half as fast as it should be. With the fiber optic will only be half as good as they tell us, it will still be twice as good as the cable is now.

In three weeks time we should have the connect inside the house, hopefully the provider will connect us soon after that. *fingers crossed* Read the rest of this article »
