Kampsheide, Balloo

The following pictures were taken 3 weeks ago while walking through the area called Kamspheide in Balloo, which is a place in Drenthe, a northern province of the Netherlands. The weather was good, sunny and partly cloudy but with a chilly wind.

Kampsheide

The colors where spectacular, the reddish brown of the heath, the green of the trees and moss and the deep blue of the sky look amazing together.

Super Danubia 28mm Macro lens

Super Danubia 28mm macro lens

Another item acquired by chance. This lens, a 28mm 2.8f macro lens by Super Danubia, was embedded in an industrial control system. My father brought it home, encased in a larger housing. After some effort we managed to extract the lens itself.

Flying impostors

Following up on my previous post “bees and butterflies”, here are some more photos I took this summer of what are in fact flies. They are sneaky little buggers as they pose as bees. This is a natural defense you see in a lot of different species.

Oosterscheldekering

Oosterscheldekering

These photos were taken in 2006, I don’t know why I never got around to posting them. I took them when we were on vacation on the dutch shoreline. The Oosterscheldekering, as it is called, is a storm surge barrier built as part of the Delta Works after the devastating floods in 1953.
